Police incident on M2 between Rochester and Blue Bell Hill stops traffic

Traffic on the M2 has been released after it was stopped due to a medical incident attended to by police.

Motorists on the coastbound carriageway were stopped before 4pm between Junction 2 for Rochester and Junction 3 for Blue Bell Hill.

There were long queues and delays on the motorway as a result while officers assisted at the scene.

National Highways confirmed traffic was released just before 5pm.

Earlier on Blue Bell Hill, a driver who tailgated an unmarked police car was given a speeding ticket for travelling 71mph in a 50mph zone.

Kent Police's Roads Units said: "Driver thought he could tailgate our unmarked car on Blue Bell Hill as we overtook another vehicle.

"He thought he could gesture for us to move over as we slowed for the speed change ahead. Average speed of 71mph in 50mph zone. Ticket issued."

Kent Police has been contacted for more information on the M2 incident.
