Power cut hits peninsula

Almost 2,000 homes were without power yesterday afternoon (July 9) after a fault interrupted supplies.
The power cut affected home in the Lodge Hill Lane area of Chattenden, just before 4pm and was not restored to most for more than an hour.
A spokesman for EDF Energy, said: “A fault on a piece of equipment on our overhead network interrupted supplies to 1,900 customers in the Lodge Hill Lane area of Chattenden, at 3.51pm on Thursday.
“EDF Energy Networks engineers restored the first supplies, to about 290 customers, within a matter of minutes and repairs were completed to reconnect all the remaining supplies by 5.05pm.
“We apologise to customers for the inconvenience this caused.”
