The road, from Cobtree Roundabout to Lord Lees Roundabout, will be closed between Sunday, July 16, and Tuesday, July 18.

This is to allow resurfacing works to be carried out on behalf of Kent County Council (KCC).

Phase one will start on Sunday at 5am and will take 24 hours to complete.

The road will then reopen, with a mandatory 20mph speed limit in place for the safety of all road users.

It will shut for phase two on Monday, from 10pm to 5am, and again for 24 hours in a final phase on Sunday, July 23.

KCC say speed restrictions will remain live until all phases of resurfacing are completed.

A diversion is set to be in place during the closures.

Drivers will have to take a 15.8-mile detour, which is said to add around 18 minutes to journey times.

It is as follows: Join the M20 towards Detling and take the Sheppey-bound exit onto the A249 Detling Hill.

At Stockbury Roundabout join the M2 London-bound and then rejoin the A229 at the Taddington Roundabout.

The road closure will also overlap with planned maintenance by National Highways on the M2 coastbound exit slip.

It will be fully closed from 8pm Sunday to 5am Monday.
