Darren Katumba, 21, is accused of attempted robbery at Santander in Gillingham on Friday morning.
He is also charged with robbery at the Co-Operative bank in Hythe Street, Dartford, on Thursday, June 27.
Katumba, of Millard Road, in Deptford, south east London, appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court on Saturday. He was remanded to a later date at a hearing.
He was arrested on Friday, hours after Kent Police were called to Santander in Gillingham High Street.
