A 21-year-old man had to be talked down from Rochester bridge after he climbed over the railings and threatened to jump.

The drama happened around 4.30pm on Sunday, with police, ambulance crews and the coastguard getting involved in the incident.

A Kent Police spokesman said when officers arrived the man had climbed over the railings and was standing on the edge of the bridge, but later climbed back over to the road side of the bridge after officers spoke to him.
