Austin Hurley, of Rochester, will have to serve a minimum of four-and-a-half years before he will be considered for parole.

Hurley, 44, formerly of Beckingham Drive, Maidstone, denied attempted rape but was convicted after a trial in February.

Maidstone Crown Court heard the latest attack was on a woman who told Hurley she was gay and not interested in men.

Judge Macdonald said Hurley, who is married, was working as a barman at a Maidstone social club when he became friendly with the victim.

One night in August 2007, he told her he was hosting a gathering and asked her to serve drinks and snacks.

“He offered her £500 if she dressed attractively and went with him to perform that function,” said the judge. “She dealt with him in good faith.”

Hurley went with the woman to her home so that she could change. She put on a short skirt, high heels and a lace-up top.

As they were about to leave, he asked her: “Are you ready for this?”

He then pushed her onto a mattress, grabbed her wrists and told her: “This is going to happen and you had better do as you are told.”

He molested her and warned: “If you want to see the light of day tomorrow, you had better do as I say. Go on scream.”

He ordered her to put on something tight and she changed into shorts. He then tried to force her to commit a sex act but she pulled away and ran to the bathroom, where she was sick.

Hurley’s mood changed again and he apologised before leaving.
