Teenager stopped for traffic offences in Strood charged with drug possession

A teenager was charged with drug possession after he was stopped by police for a traffic offence.

Joshua Penfold, 19, of Church Street, Hoo, was charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine, acquiring criminal property and possession with intent to supply ketamine after he was stopped by patrol officers in Strood.

Police pulled a car over just before 10.30pm on September 17 after officers had suspicions there were drugs inside the vehicle.

They carried out a search of the car under the Misuse of Drugs Act and found between 30 and 40 deal bags hidden inside a larger bag.

A large quantity of cash was also seized.

Penfold was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on September 19 where he was remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on October 17.
