A fire crew came to the aid of a mum and her toddler after the little girl got locked in a car.

Firefighters from Strood were called to the car park at Morrisons supermarket in Strood on Wednesday at about 7.20pm.

The child became upset after being locked in the car with the keys on the inside while the mum was outside the vehicle sorting out the shopping.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “The child was very distressed when we arrived, she was crying and wanted her mum. We think she had been locked in for between five to 10 minutes.

"Mum was upset too to see her daughter so distressed so as soon as we arrived it was decided we would break a window to get her out as quickly as possible.
“We were then able to open the door and mum was able to get her daughter out, as she was in need of a big cuddle.
“Within a few minutes mum calmed her down somewhat and she was very grateful for our assistance.”
