Two men have appeared in court a after being charged with various offences after officers on a routine patrol stopped a vehicle they were travelling in.
Mohammed Wasway, 22, of Fleet Road, Rochester and Annish Savananthan, 24, of Further Green Road, Catford, were stopped in the car on Monday, January 22 at about 3pm.
Officers stopped them in Kitchener Avenue, Chatham, and the pair were searched, along with the vehicle and were subsequently arrested after officers found suspicious items in the vehicle.
These included a lock knife, baton and small bags of what appeared to be cannabis.
Wasway and Savananthan have each been charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis, possession of an offensive weapon and two charges of possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Wasway was also charged with driving without a licence and without insurance.
Both men appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court the next day, and Savananthan was bailed to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday, February 20 and Wasway was remanded in custody and will appear at the court on the same date.
