Men charged after objects thrown from bridge and damage to vehicles in Wigmore and Hempstead

Two men have been charged after a one-day crimewave - which included objects being hurled from a bridge.

Police are keen to talk to motorists who saw objects being thrown from a bridge onto Hoath Way, but are also investigating damage to vehicles and anti-social behaviour in Wigmore Park; and assault and theft of alcohol from shops in Fairview Road and Hempstead Road.

Andrew Spencer, 24, of Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, has been charged with endangering a public highway; assaulting a constable in the execution of their duty; assault; two counts of criminal damage; shoplifting; using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment alarm or distress.

Curtis Pennells, 19, of Trench Road, Tonbridge, has been charged with endangering a public highway; shoplifting; using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment alarm or distress; attempted criminal damage.

Both men have been remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, August 21.
