A new voice is gracing the airwaves of kmfm Medway every weekday morning.

Mike Russell has taken over the breakfast show slot from former host Andy Walker, who now presents weekday Drivetime between 3-7pm.

The 29-year-old, who started his career on hospital radio at the tender age of 13, said he is thoroughly enjoying his new role.

Mike has travelled as far as Australia for his job, presenting and producing. Most recently, he has become a regular working on kmfm stations across Kent.

In May 2007, he achieved a world record for the longest continual radio broadcast - 126 hours with no sleep.

He also produces radio jingles in his spare time and enjoys power-walking to keep fit.

Mike said: "Listeners can look forward to lots of interaction, lots of phone calls and lots of humour to get them kick-started and hopefully set them up for the rest of the day."

Mike Russell started on Tuesday and can be heard from 6am to 10am every weekday on 100.4fm or 107.9fm.
