A wildfowler got cut off by the tide and had to be rescued by an RNLI lifeboat.

The person, who has not been named, was walking on Stoke saltings on the Hoo peninsula during the high tide at 3.15pm on Tuesday.

Wildfowlers conserve areas of land for hunting birds.

Medway Coastguard and Sheerness RNLI inshore lifeboat were called to assist and the person was brought back to the shore by the lifeboat.

Cllr Alan Jarrett (Con), chairman of the Kent Wildfowling and Conservation Association, said: “There are a lot of areas of Stoke saltings that are above the water line so I imagine this person must have just got cut off at high water.”
