Woman trapped in car after smash on the M2 near Strood was rescued by firefighters

A woman had to be rescued by firefighters following a crash on the M2 on yesterday evening.

The woman, in her 50s who has not been named, was trapped in her car following a crash on the coast-bound carriageway between junctions 1 and 2 for Rochester and Strood.

The crash happened at about 6.15pm and involved a white volkswagen Caddy and a blue Kia Picanto and firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the woman from her vehicle.

It is understood she was complaining of neck pain, but her injuries were not thought to have been life threatening.

After being freed for the care she was handed over to the care of paramedics.

It is understood the road was cleared by about 7.50pm.
