A woman has suffered head and arm injuries after being hit by a motorbike in Chatham this morning.

The injured woman, who is in her 50s, was hit as she crossed Dock Road near to The Brook at about 9am.

Police closed the road for several hours while officers carried out investigations at the scene.

The woman, who has not been named, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment, but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A Medway Police spokesman said: "It happened at around 9am and part of Dock Road in Chatham was closed. It re-opened at around noon."
