Striker Cody McDonald is on course to make a return before the end of the season.
Gills boss Justin Edinburgh is confident that the striker will be back playing for the season run-in.
McDonald broke a bone in his foot during the game at Millwall before Christmas.
“He is doing really well,” said Edinburgh, when quizzed about the striker’s progress.
“He is going to see a specialist next week (Thursday). He is off the crutches and we believe he will be having his (air) boot removed. Once that happens it is full steam ahead for Cody.
“Everything has so far gone to plan and if that continues he will be back before the end of the season. If that happens it will be a big boost, not only for him, as he has had a tough season, but also to for the club.”
McDonald has made 19 appearances this season, scoring three goals, but he missed much of pre-season and the start of the current campaign.
Fellow striker Luke Norris, meanwhile, could be fit to play this weekend after a scan on Monday gave him the all-clear.
