Gillingham were about to get the second half started when their goalkeeper Aaron Chapman alerted medical staff to a person who had collapsed in the Brian Moore Stand. Gills' club doctor, physios from both clubs and St John Ambulance personnel attended.

Referee Craig Hicks delayed kick off while the woman was treated.

She was eventually stretchered away from the area while play had got under way. She was later given the all-clear and allowed to return home that evening.

The Gills were messaged after the match by the woman's partner, who said that she had collapsed due to an epileptic seizure and wrote: “A massive thank you to all the Gillingham and Bolton medical team and the paramedics who looked after her.”
