Loan defender Lee Hodson scores first goal in four years during Hamilton Academical's win over Motherwell on Saturday in the Scottish Premiership

Gillingham’s on-loan defender Lee Hodson scored his first goal in four years as he starred for Scottish side Hamilton Academical at the weekend.

Hodson has been on loan with the Scottish Premiership side since the start of the season and produced a fine display from right wing-back in a 3-0 derby victory over Motherwell.

The Accies were ahead after 10 minutes thanks to Hodson, who was clearly fired up, having already had one shot saved before scoring with an angled low drive.

It was Hodson’s first goal for Accies and first anywhere since December 2016 when he scored for Rangers in a 2-1 win over Aberdeen in a Premiership fixture. Victory was crucial for Hodson's loan side who are fighting to avoid relegation.

Hodson is clearly enjoying his time with his loan side, starting 17 of their 21 league matches, joining them after being told he had no future with the Gills this season. He’s in the second of a two year deal following his signing at Priestfield in the summer of 2019.
