Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh has boosted his squad on the eve of the League 1 season.
The Gills have agreed a short-term deal with midfielder Josh Wright.
The 25-year-old rejoins the Gills having left Leyton Orient in the close season.
He previously played eight times for the Gills while on loan from Charlton, including the 2009 play-off final win over Shrewsbury at Wembley.
Gills manager Justin Edinburgh said: "From the day he came into training his attitude has been superb and he looks in good condition.
"He's got a bit to prove and we've given him the opportunity to do that on a short term deal."
Wright is available to play in Saturday's League 1 opener against Sheffield United at Priestfield.
