Gillingham defender Ryan Jackson has been suffering with a knee injury since the Swindon Town match

Gillingham are hoping defender Ryan Jackson’s injury isn’t a serious one.

The Gills have sent the right-back for a scan to ascertain the nature of his current problem.

Jackson has been suffering with a troublesome knee since the recent game against Swindon.

Boss Justin Edinburgh had hoped he would shake off the injury in time to face Barnsley at the weekend but the improvements in the knee slowed down at the end of the week.

With a slight strain being picked up by the medical staff, the Gills have decided to investigate further.

Jackson has been a regular starter for the Gills this season, clocking up 31 appearances, having moved to the club from Newport.

He was replaced in the team at the weekend by Aaron Morris, who slotted in “seamlessly” according to Edinburgh.

Gillingham’s new signing George Williams was training for the first time at the club on Tuesday, having only been introduced to his new team-mates on the day of the Barnsley game.

Not surprisingly. Williams was an unused substitute.

Both Bradley Garmston and Emmanuel Osadebe were taken off in the game but that was down to fatigue, rather than any injury concerns.
