Bradley Dack is set to make a welcome return for the Gills at Sheffield United this weekend.
Gillingham’s leading scorer has missed just over a month of action and boss Justin Edinburgh is thrilled to get his main man on board again as they chase down League 1’s top two.
Dack has 15 goals and 10 assists this season and made a scoring return when playing 45 minutes for the development side on Tuesday.
Edinburgh said: “To have him back is brilliant. For me, Bradley Dack is the best player in the league.
“He’s back training and if all goes well, he may make the trip to Sheffield. He has had the bit between his teeth since the day he got injured and it has been like a personal crusade for him to beat the time of a normal person coming back from a hamstring. He beat it, of course.”
Dack’s return comes a week after John Egan came back from injury while striker Cody McDonald is also building up his match fitness after a long time out.
“It keeps everyone on their toes and is a confidence booster,” said the manager.
“Dacky is an infectious player. You are talking about your leading scorer and leading assists, probably the catalyst of your team as well. He probably covers more ground than any other player as well.
“For those players to come back in it is a psychological boost and it really strengthens the team.”
