LEADING disability organisation Scope have said a huge thank you to fund-raisers for their incredible generosity over the past year.

Kent was ranked as the second most generous county, second only to London.

And within Kent, Maidstone topped the list with an astounding £61,201 donated to the charity from individual and group event fund-raisers, corporate gifts and trusts.

Jon Sparkes, acting chief executive at Scope, said: "This is a great achievement for us and we would like to thank every single person who has supported our work, and disabled people across the county.

"Scope’s mission is to achieve equality for disabled people and the more support we have the more we can invest in services and projects that will make this a reality."

Other generous towns included Tonbridge (£33,559), Ashford (£37,788), Gravesend (£24,845) and Sittingbourne (£23,880).
