Team KM is ready, willing and eager to take part in the Kent Charity Challenge abseil event.

Reporters Helen Wagstaff, Mary Graham and Angela Cole have been limbering up for their 100ft drop down the side of the Fremlin Walk shopping centre in Maidstone by walking down the stairs backwards.

They will be among the scores of brave volunteers going over the top on Saturday, April 26, to raise funds for the Heart of Kent Hospice and the KM Walking Bus. Everyone taking part has pledged to raise at least £75 in sponsorship and the proceeds will be split 70/30 in favour of the hospice.

Corporate sponsors are kindly meeting the cost of organising the event, so all the money raised by the volunteers will go to the good causes.

Miss Wagstaff, chief reporter at the KM's Maidstone office, said: "I've never done anything as crazy as this before, but it's such a good cause."

There is still time to take part in the event, visit the abseil section of the website: www.kentcharitychallenge.co.uk
