Celebrating its 21st year, the annual fundraiser staged by the KM Group’s charitable division provides the perfect day out for friends and families.

Key partner Specsavers Opticians – a long-serving support of the event – is keen to find those willing to strap up their boots for good causes.

Matt Trusty, Kent Regional Chairman of Specsavers, said: “With just two weeks to go until the KM Charity Walk, now is the time to secure your place. Over the past two decades, the event has raised nearly £1 million for vital good causes across the county, such as the lifesaving service provided by the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.”

He added: “Specsavers prides itself at being in the very heart of the community, and this event is entirely reflective of this. The walk brings people together, and as one, we stride with pride.”

Booking remains open for the challenge event which takes place on Sunday, June 26.

Starting and concluding at Maidstone’s Grade II listed Georgian mansion Mote House, ramblers have the option of both five and 10 mile treks, each passing through bespoke Kentish countryside and landmarks including Leeds Castle.

The walk concludes with a garden party complete with a barbecue and live music, plus all participants will be presented with a limited edition medal.

Sophie Wallace, events manager at the KM Charity Team which organises the walk, said: “As we near ever-closer to the 21st Anniversary KM Charity Walk, the excitement continues to build. Last year’s event raised a huge £20,000 for many charities, and we really want to improve upon this figure. There is still time to book your place ahead of the 26th, so gather your nearest and dearest, and together let’s support the causes which mean so much to the people of Kent, Medway and Bexley!”

Booking is charged at £11.50 per adult and children under 16 go free. Walkers are encouraged to gain sponsorship for their ramble.

Other businesses backing the walk include Cotswold Outdoor, Benenden Hospital Trust and Gullands Solicitors
