Warm welcome for charity cyclists

Cyclists who have raised more than £1million for injured servicemen in current conflicts received an “amazing” welcome in Dover.

The riders, who were cycling for Help for Heroes, set off on a gruelling 350-mile journey from Portsmouth.

They travelled through Le Harve and around the Somme before cycling up to Dunkirk in time for their journey over to Dover.

On their arrival in Dover they were treated to a parachute display from the Red Devils Parachute Team.

Operations director for Help for Heroes Mark Elliott said: “Arriving at Dover was absolutely amazing. The public support was inspirational.

“It was incredible to see the Red Devils landing in the water around us.

“The great thing was that everyone was not just supporting us but all the injured servicemen and women out there too.”

The cyclists ended their journey in London after spending the night in Dover.
