Teenager from Romney Marsh launches own skincare products with help of Beauty Stable

A teenage entrepreneur from Romney Marsh turned her lockdown boredom into a new beauty business.

Jasmine Bull, 14, has launched an eco skincare range designed to make more young women feel better about themselves.

Jasmine, from New Romney, came up with the idea while off school from the Marsh Academy over the last few months and has released the products with the help of Marsh-based business, Beauty Stable, where her mum works.

She said: "A few months ago, I was going to school and worrying about which GCSE options to take… the usual things!

"When school shut, I started helping out my mum, Emma, in the Beauty Stable factory in the evenings and it inspired me to think about what I could make."

Jasmine started to learn about packaging and production, and conducting testing within her community, before coming up with the Jasmine range - a selection of creams and scrubs that absorb into the skin and are designed to leave you feeling fresh.

Everything from the glass packaging to the individual ingredients has been carefully considered by the teenager.

Jasmine said: "In three words, I’d describe them as affordable, recyclable and lightweight.

"It’s been a real community effort.

"I even went into Coach House Coffee, a coffee shop in New Romney, and spoke to them about their coffee grounds.

"We’re now using them in our products, helping to reduce waste.”

Jasmine, who lives with her mum Emma and two sisters, hopes her brand will help improve the self-esteem of girls like her.

She said: "When designing the products, we made sure we kept them accessible for every family out there.

"I want everyone who uses them to feel good afterwards.

"Having struggled with acne, I particularly want young teenagers to feel better about themselves."

Beauty Stable makes home-grown British beauty brands.

Marva Williams, Beauty Stable co-founder, said: "We are so proud that Beauty Stable is a business with an ethos of nurturing young visionaries like Jasmine.

"Yes, she is fortunate enough to have a mother who demonstrates the power of a working mother, but she took the initiative to work and create her own brands.

"Our desire to create products which are paraben-free and environmentally friendly is further expanded by what Jasmine has created for the millennial and Gen Z consumer of today."
