Three fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish a fire before using a high pressure fan to clear the home of smoke.

One woman was given oxygen as a precaution for smoke inhalation before being passed into the care of paramedics.

It's believed the fire started accidentally when an electric blanket caught alight.

Following the incident, crews are reminding people to use electric blankets with caution.

Users should regularly check for scorch marks or fraying as well as damage to the wiring or leads.

It's best not to use a blanket that is more than 10-years-old and they should be switched before going to sleep.
