Traffic is easing, after two car fires along the same stretch of motorway.

Traffic was temporarily held in the coast-bound carriageway, just at the point where Junction 5 of the M25 meets the M26, while crews extinguished a blaze.

That fire broke out in a Mini shortly before 5pm.

Congestion was back to Junction 6 of the M25 for Godstone.

Shortly before 6.30pm a fire in the opposite carriageway caused further disruption.

Two lanes were shut clockwise on the M25, between Junction 5 for the M26 and 6 for Godstone. One remained shut until around 8.15pm.

It is not yet clear whether anyone was injured during either of the fires.
