Trains between Sevenoaks and Swanley disrupted due to Thameslink points failure

Trains in a part of Kent are being delayed and cancelled this morning due to a technical issue.

A points failure has caused the disruption to trains running on the Thameslink route between Sevenoaks and Swanley.

Trains on this line may be cancelled or delayed by up to 15 minutes or diverted via Orpington.

Stops at St Mary Cray, Swanley, Eynsford, Shoreham Kent, Otford and Bat & Ball will not be served.

Network Rail staff are working to fix the fault, but Thameslink says issues are expected to continue until about 9am.

It says: "Services running between Sevenoaks and London Blackfriars will be diverted via Orpington until further notice."

It advises anyone planning to travel from Eynsford, Shoreham or Bat & Ball: "You should delay travelling until later."

The service adds: "If you are travelling from either Swanley, Otford or St Mary Cray you can travel on alternative Southeastern services."
