Biker in hospital with serious leg injuries after collision with car in Queenborough

A motorcyclist remains in hospital with serious leg injuries after a collision with a car on New Year’s Day.

The 30-year-old was on his way to work at around 8.45pm when the crash happened at the old Queenborough Road junction, just after the BP garage.

The man, who lives in Margate but was visiting his girlfriend on the Island, was taken to Medway hospital.

Officers were called to the collision at around 8.45pm on New Year's Day.

A family friend said the biker has suffered “two crushed knees and a broken leg”.

He said: “It was spitting with rain when the accident happened. The weather had a lot to do with it and it’s not very well lit around that area either.

“What I suspect has happened, what with the rain on the driver’s side window, is that she couldn’t see a lot anyway and the Yamaha bike was in her blind spot when she pulled out of the junction.

“He [the biker] wasn’t speeding. He was doing about 25mph as he was heading up to the lights, which were red.

“That’s about as much as he can remember, but he’s doing OK.”
