A car was torched in Sheerness early today.

Firefighters were called to Invicta Road at 3.01am.

They spent 20 minutes at the scene and requested police officers attend because of the suspicious circumstances.

The Peugeot car was partially damaged by the blaze.

It is unknown at this stage whether police are linking the fire to a series of attacks on cars dating back three years.

More than 20 vehicles have been torched in a small area of Sheerness - causing more than £60,000 of damage.
