KENT'S top policeman Mike Fuller was this afternoon visiting the area where 18-year old Christopher Alaneme was fatally stabbed late on Friday night.

Mr Fuller, the Chief Constable, was visiting the High Street in Sheerness.

Detectives are still treating the stabbing of the black teenager as a race crime.

Mr Fuller said: "Kent Police treats all race and hate crime extremely seriously and we are confident we will catch the people who are responsible for these stabbings.

"We have community officers working closely with people who live in the area. They are also liaising with ethnic support groups. Our officers can offer support to anyone who feels they might need it following this tragic loss of a young man’s life."

Kent Police is asking anyone with any information to contact officers in the incident room on 01622 654860.
