Red velvet, lemon drizzle and Victoria sponges were among the homemade cakes on offer at a fundraiser.

Staff at the library at Sheppey Gateway, High Street, Sheerness, held a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday.

Around 26 people went along and helped raised more than £80 for the charity.

As well as the cakes, there were drinks on offer and chocolate mousses.

Kent County Council libraries supports Macmillan through coffee mornings every year.

Librarian for Swale Anne Pilcher said: “The lovely cakes the staff made were delicious.

“I’d like to thank everyone who came along and donated and all the staff.”
