A Magician from Sheppey cast a spell over a Disney Princess when he landed a holiday on dating game show Take Me Out.
Steve Fisher appeared on the ITV programme and managed to convince Disneyworld worker, Gabriella to keep her light on for him after he impressed with some fire eating before making a person in a squirrel costume appear in a cage.
Nicknamed Sonic the Hedgehog for his spiky hair by one of the contestants, the 25-year-old also revealed his passion for LARP, or Live Action Role Play, where he acts out battles while also dressed as a squirrel.
Mr Fisher said: “It was kind of funny I thought. I was a bit worried in the first round when lots of lights went out but living with six girls [as was shown in his preview clip] is going to do that.
“I knew the LARPing was going to be a big killer with the lights because it’s been associated with geeky stuff, like in the movie Role Models, but if you actually have a go it’s not as geeky as it looks.”
Since the show aired, the Haven fun star has already been recognised.
“All my friends have said well done,” he said. “I’ve been stopped a few times in the street and I have been asked to take selfies with people so it’s been a little bit crazy.”
There was a backlash online after the conjurer introduced himself as being from Somerset.
Although he is from the Island and spends some time living in Alma Street, Sheerness, he said at the time of filming he had been living in the West Country for two years while working for Haven and since footage from clips shown to the audience was recorded there he wanted it to make sense.
He said: “I’m still proud to be from the Isle of Sheppey.”
Mr Fisher and his date have already filmed the scenes of their trip together to the fictional Isle of Fernando’s – actually Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife – and they flew out the day after recording the show at The Maidstone Studios.
Magic Steve, as he is known on stage, said he is not allowed to say how it went but added: “It’s going to be good TV. The date is well worth watching.”
You can see how they got on this Saturday on ITV at 8.30pm.
