The wheels are in motion for Sheppey's first royal wedding street party.

It is due to take place in Clyde Street, Sheerness, next Friday - the day Prince William will wed Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey.

Emma Vaughan, who lives in nearby Richmond Street, said she and her fellow organisers only received their confirmation of the party from Swale council last Wednesday and now it's all systems go to get everything ready in time.

Residents of Clyde Street and the surrounding area are welcome to go along to the street party, which will start at 2pm and go on until 5pm.

As well as a selection of charity stalls, there will be a magician, face-painting, hook-a-duck, raffles, games and a barbecue.

There will also be tarot reading and a name the teddy competition.

Emma said: "We wanted to organise the party to get the community back together.

"We are really looking forward to it."
