Youngsters get a taste of the world

Parents had the chance to see what their children had learnt about different cultures at a school showcase session.

Youngsters at Rose Street School had been enjoying Celebrating Us week and on Friday had the opportunity to show their parents what they had learned.

The aim of the week was for pupils to learn about their own culture, as well as those of other pupils in the school.

During the week children enjoyed cookery sessions with the community chef Mike Spackman, learning about different foods from around the world, and they also had dance and drama workshops from various companies.

Sunita Thakur, RE teacher at the school, said: “It was very successful, a lot of parents came along to see what their children had done and they picked up some of the recipes children had learned with the community chef.”
