Soccer club's success doesn't come cheap

SHEERNESS East Football Club’s success this season in reaching two county cup finals has come at a price of nearly £500.

On Saturday, the first team play their Kent Intermediate Shield final against Danson Furness at Erith Town and on Thursday, April 24, take Stansfeld at Ashford in the Inter-Regional Challenge Cup final.

On April 16, the reserves meet Kennington Reserves in the Eastern Junior Cup final at Hythe.

Club secretary John Longhurst xplained: “Our reward for reaching two finals run by the league is a bill for £476. We must find £200 for entrance tickets that we have to sell.

“This is not easy when both finals are in midweek, the first being at Hythe and the second in Ashford. A total of £276 is for 12 compulsory tickets to the presentation dinner and dance which is due to us reaching two finals. Those tickets cost £23 each.”

To help meet the cost, the club are appealing for financial assistance from sponsors.

“I should be grateful to hear from any local companies or people interested in sponsoring one or part of our finals,” Mr Longhurst stressed. “If anyone can help I would be grateful if they could they ring Jon on 01795 870093.

* The club intend running a girls Under-11 team next season and are looking for a woman coach, manager and administrator. For further details contact John Munday on 01795 664809.
