Gas leak sparks road closures in Teynham

A 400-metre cordon has been put in place after a gas leak in Teynham.

Kent Police were alerted to the incident at around 10.30am Wednesday when it is believed a digger caught a pipe on the A2, London Road.

Police have closed the A2 through Teynham whilst engineers attempt to fix the leak.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has also been called to assist evacuating nearby properties.

It is thought the road will be reopened within the next hour but in the meantime drivers are being advised to avoid the area.
