Margate man arrested on suspicion of driving and drug offences following police chase in Manston Road, Ramsgate

Police have seized a baseball bat after pursuing a driver who allegedly drove through a red light before crashing into three other vehicles.

The car had been travelling along Manston Road, Ramsgate when it failed to stop when requested to do so by the force.

It crashed into the vehicles after allegedly driving through the traffic controls at 5.10pm yesterday (May 7).

Officers then searched the car, seizing a baseball bat as well as quantities of cannabis and a substance believed to be cocaine.

A 31-year-old man from Margate has since been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including dangerous driving, failing to stop when requested to do so, possession of drugs and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

He was released on bail until August 8 pending further enquiries.
