Man arrested on suspicion of drink driving after crash near King Ethelbert School in Canterbury Road, Birchington

A man, 36, has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a crash involving a van and a car.

Police were called to Canterbury Road in Birchington following the collision near King Ethelbert School in the morning rush hour.

The ambulance service also attended the scene and two people, a driver and passenger, were taken to hospital “as a precaution”, a police spokesman said.

The road was blocked for almost three hours while the incident was responded to and cleared by 11.30am.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a collision between a van and a car in Canterbury Road, Birchington shortly before 8.30am.

“Officers attended along with ambulance service and two people were taken to a local hospital as a precaution.”
