Emergency crews and coastguard helicopter called to West Bay beach, Westgate-on-Sea

Emergency crews were called after a woman suffered a seizure on a beach.

Paramedics, the RNLI and the coastguard helicopter were at West Bay, Westgate-on-Sea at about 10.50am yesterday.

The lifeboat was returning from a false alarm in the sea nearby in Margate when it was alerted to the woman in need.

Footage shows the moment a coastguard helicopter, which had been searching the sea and had a paramedic on board, landed next to a busy road.

The casualty was treated by paramedics at the scene.

An RNLI spokesman said: “As the units were returning to the station one of the coastguard rescue teams attended a medical incident on the beach at Westgate.

“Margate’s B-class lifeboat along with the paramedic from the coastguard helicopter - which landed on the clifftop nearby - provided casualty care support until the person was handed into the care of the ambulance service.”

A spokesman for the ambulance service added: “We were called at approximately 10:50am yesterday to reports of a female suffering a seizure in West Bay.

“Crews assessed and treated the patient at the scene before discharging her from our care.”
