Fire in flats at St John's Road, Margate, police need witnesses

Police need witnesses to a fire in a block of flats, which is suspected as arson.

Flames erupted in in the communal hallway at St John's Road, Margate, between 10pm and 10.15pm last Thursday.

A police spokesman said: " Kent Police attended the scene, along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service who extinguished the blaze. The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious at this time."

The fire did not spread beyond the hall.

But police want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious or unusual.

They should call Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting the reference number 46/143356/19.
