Thanet District Council prosecutes residents for fly-tipping offences in Margate and Ramsgate

Six Thanet residents have been fined a total of £3,000 for fly-tipping.

Nicola Holt and Andrew Farrar, of Princes Crescent in Margate, were both prosecuted for dumping rubbish in an alley to the rear of their property.

They were both fined £200 each with £100 costs and an additional £20 victim surcharge.

Misoslav Godla, of Trinity Square in Margate, was fined £300 with £100 costs and a £30 victim surcharge for dumping rubbish bags in a car park.

Mr Godla was previously fined over £1,000 for fly-tipping in Trinity Square car park.

Chanade John, of Willsons Road in Ramsgate, has been fined £300 with £100 costs and a £30 victim surcharge for dumping rubbish in an alley.

Sophie Kendell, of Boundary Road in Ramsgate, was fined £255 and an additional fee of £597.14 for enforcement and clean-up costs after tipping dumped rubbish in an alleyway.

Terry Amis, of Eastchurch Road in Cliftonville, dumped rubbish in the street and has been fined a total of £477.

Cabinet member for operational services Cllr Mike Harrison said: “We take fly-tipping very seriously and persistently investigate rubbish dumping, following through to prosecute all offenders.

“Fly-tipping is an irresponsible act which can not only be dangerous but is also incredibly selfish as this has a negative effect on the entire community.
