A souped-up Audi that was once someone’s pride and joy is now covered in graffiti as it languishes in a Morrisons car park.

The vehicle has also had its windows smashed and tyres stolen during the several months it has been left abandoned at the site in Margate.

Surrounded by litter and with a mobility walker balanced on the bonnet, calls are growing for the unsightly wreck in College Square Car Park to be removed.

Jade Harrison, 24, took a picture of the ruined Audi and said “the whole car park is disgusting”.

She posted a picture of the mess on social media in the hope of making both Morrisons and Thanet District Council aware of the vehicle’s presence – with the ultimate aim of getting the entire site cleaned up.

Reacting to the post, other Thanet residents have been left less than impressed to learn the car is still rusting away in the same spot – with some suggesting it has been there for two years.

Louise Wetherill asked: “Why aren't the council removing it?”

Roberta Driscoll called it “such a shame” and noted it was once “someone's pride and joy”.

Elaine Ogles commented on the overall state of the car park, saying “it's horrible down there” and branding it an eyesore.

Meanwhile, Deborah Holmes quipped “is this an Emin?” – a nod to the presence of the world-famous artist in the town.

It is understood Thanet District Council does not own the car park, with the day-to-day management of the facility being carried out by Euro Car Parks on behalf of Morrisons.

Councillors Rob Yates and Jack Packman told KentOnline they didn’t know too much about the car but would look into it to see what they could do.

Morrisons and TDC have been contacted for comment.
