Smash on Garlinge High Street sparks dangerous driving arrest

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after crashing into parked cars and a building on a high street.

The smash happened in Garlinge near Margate on Saturday, August 19 at 4.40pm, where it is understood the driver fled the scene.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after she was bailed pending further inquiries.

When officers arrived at the scene of the accident the suspect was not there however, she was relocated and arrested nearby.

The fire service cleaned up a fuel spillage at the spot, it is understood.

A police spokesman said: “We were called to a report a car had collided with a parked car and a building in Garlinge High Street at 4.40pm on Saturday August 19 2023.

“Officers attended along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and a woman was later arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

“The woman has since been bailed pending further investigation and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
