Margate murder investigation: Two people remain in custody after victim named locally as Samantha Murphy

Two people remain in custody after a woman was stabbed to death at a house in Margate.

Mum-of-three Samantha Murphy has been named by her family as the victim of the incident in Elfrida Close.

Officers and paramedics were called to the scene at about 3.10am on Saturday where they found a woman with stab wounds.

She was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.

A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of murder and a woman in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of murder and assisting an offender.

It is believed that the victim and the suspects were known to each other.

A police spokesman said: "Two people remain in custody as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of a woman following an incident in Elfrida Close, Margate on Saturday."

They also confirmed officers are carrying out investigations at a home in West Dumpton Lane, Ramsgate. Forensics were spotted at the scene over the weekend.

Samantha's niece, Megan Murphy, has launched a fundraiser to help her children pay for her funeral.

Megan wrote that the family "don't know exactly what happened yet" but wants to give Samantha a "beautiful send-off".

"Please keep our broken family in your hearts, especially my baby cousins," she added.

Officers have already spoken with several potential witnesses but believe there several people who have important information who are yet to get in contact.
