Young girl suffers slight injuries in crash outside St George's School, Broadstairs

A nine-year-old girl suffered minor injuries in a crash near a Broadstairs school.

A spokesman for Kent Police said the youngster was sat in the back seat of a car when it collided with another vehicle in Westwood Road at 8.40am.

The collision blocked the road and caused long tailbacks around the nearby St George's School.

The police spokesman described the incident as a "low impact collision" and said there had been little damage to the two vehicles involved.

The young girl was taken to the nearby QEQM hospital, Margate, for precautionary checks.

Westwood Road reopened at around 9am.
