Two die in road crash tragedies

TWO men, a motorcyclist and a pedal cyclist, have died following separate accidents on Kent's roads.

The motorcyclist was killed when his silver Honda was in collision with a Mitsubishi Shogun on the A227 Shipbourne Road at Tonbridge, at about at about 2.25pm on Wednesday.

He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed while emergency services attended the incident. It re-opened at about 7.30pm.

The cyclist died in hospital after being involved in a collision with a car on Blue Bell Hill, between Chatham and Maidstone, on Wednesday morning.

Both the cyclist and car were travelling on the Old Chatham Road, a slip road, at the junction with the A229 when the collision occurred.

The bike rider, a man from the Medway Towns, was taken to Maidstone Hospital with severe injuries and later died.

Both incidents are being investigated by Kent Police's Serious Crash Investigation Unit. Anyone with information is being urged to call 01622 600 970.
