JON MAIN has signed for AFC Wimbledon in a deal believed to be worth around £20,000.

Tonbridge Angels' star striker, who ironically scored his farewell goal in the 2-2 draw against Ryman League Premier Division rivals Wimbledon on Tuesday night, put pen to paper on Wednesday afternoon after originally asking for a transfer last Friday.

Angels chairman Nick Sullivan said: "The fee will remain undisclosed but all the money will go to Tommy (Warrilow) to buy new players.

"After Jon put in his request I spoke to Wimbledon on Friday night but turned down their initial offer and told them what I wanted.

"They came back and agreed to the full amount and we let Jon talk to them after the match on Tuesday night. He agreed to go last night subject to this afternoon's talks."

In addition to the undisclosed fee, there is an undisclosed sell-on clause as well as pre-season friendlies should the teams be in different leagues.

Sullivan added: "It is disappointing to lose Jon but when a player wants to leave the club there is little you can do although I would say there are people on the periphery of the matter who have stuck their nose in - I cannot say any more than that."

Main, who has scored 17 goals this season, joined the Angels in 2006 from Cray Wanderers and became a goal-machine hitting 44 goals in all competitions last season - smashing all Tonbridge records and scoring seven hat-tricks.
