POLICE searching for a missing teenage girl have discovered a body in a car park.

Terry Edmonds, 17, from Tunbridge Wells, disappeared on Monday and later her mother, Helen, made an emotional appeal to the public to help find her.

The body was found in the Morrisons supermarket car park in Vale Road in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday afternoon.

It is understood Terry's family have been told to expect the worst. A post mortem examination has been carried out on the body and it has been identified but detectives have not yet disclosed any further details.

Members of the immediate Terry's immediate family are being comforted by other relatives and specially trained police officers.

Detectives say they want to speak to anyone who has seen anything remotely suspicious in the Vale Road area during the past few days.

Terry had been on her way to meet her boyfriend when she disappeared.

On Thursday police said concern for Terry's welfare was growing as there had been no contact from her and it appeared her mobile phone had not been used.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police incident room on 01732 379302.
