Pint of Science Talk from the Faculty of Engineering and Science

Science of pint and friends - from forensic detection to brewer's perfection.
As part of worldwide Pint of Science festival, Dr Sophie Turfus, Senior Lecturer in Forensic Science, will discuss how ethanol is detected by forensic scientists and delve into some of the arguments used by defendants.

In a unique collaboration, Distillery Manager of the Copper Rivet Distillery Abhishek Banik will then illuminate how alcohol is distilled to create popular drinks. These talks will take place at the Copper Rivet Distillery, Chatham.

The Faculty of Engineering and Science will once again be taking part in the worldwide Pint of Science festival. Academics and researchers will be speaking at unique venues in Kent and London to share exciting and topical research in the areas of their expertise. Venues this year include a university bar and a local distillery and there are a record number of talks on offer.

Talks are open to all and are a 'beginner's look' at science topics.

Attendees do not need to have any prior knowledge of these topics to attend (18+ only).
